Beauty. Nature. Family.
When I was a child, I discovered a magical black box - and my love affair with photography began. I was fascinated by how the camera allowed me to capture life's treasures and special moments. With photography, I could stop time - at least for the click of a shutter - while preserving an image that would evoke a memory for the rest of my life.
I have worked as a professional photographer for over a decade. Every time I have the honor of photographing a newborn nestled in the arms of her father, a young boy in a pensive moment, or a family gathered in a favorite location - I recognize my responsibility to see with the heart as well as the lens. The moments may be fleeting, but the images captured with the camera will be treasured for generations.
My passion for photography was realized while teaching art to children; to see with the heart is a beautiful way to view the world. My hope is to capture this view in each portrait and create a piece of art that not only to adds beauty to one's home but can also be passed down as a family heirloom.
I have studied throughout the country with accomplished portrait photographers including Douglas Kirkland, Joyce Tenneson and James Wood. My formal education includes the Academy of Art in San Francisco, and degrees in both photography and early childhood development.
My work has been shown in local galleries and art shows for many years and my inspiration for an upcoming book.
Professional affiliations include PPA, NAPP, and NCPP.
